Environmental organization Greenpeace said that about 95 percent of global energy supply could come from renewable energy sources by 2050. In a press release quoted by ABC News, noted that Greenpeace together with the European Renewable Energy Council has developed the energy scenario which would meet 95 percent of world energy supply from renewable energy by 2050.
According to Greenpeace, renewable energy has various advantages, such as providing more job opportunities, distribution of power sources more evenly for the whole society, and free from the influence of oil price variations.
Ambitious energy efficiency programs plus the development and use of renewable energy in bulk runs parallel, so that by 2050 global energy system will be supported by renewable energy to 95 percent. In addition, the provision of energy is also going to implement a decentralized system and rely on renewable energy sources like wind, solar and geothermal.
Greenpeace asserts that this is the right time for Indonesia and other governments around the world to go and invest heavily in energy efficiency and use renewable energy resources.
