Denmark burn thousands of tons of waste that is imported from
the UK as an energy source for home heating.
DR national internet sites reported this seems to be a trend in the future.
A combustion engine in town Frederikshavn, Denmark north, who run the company AVO, rely on the import of waste from the UK last year.
In 2013, Denmark took approximately 200,000 tons of waste from the UK, according to the country's environmental protection agency.
Non-hazardous waste was largely derived from the construction site, including wood, board and plastics from Manchester.
"I expect we have 600 tons here that provide enough material to be converted into electricity and heating energy," said operations manager AVO, Orla Frederiksen, to DR.
Heating from waste incineration is cheaper than natural gas, said company director Tore Vedelsdal.
"The British are interested because they lack furnaces and had to pay high taxes for the landfill in the hole," added Vedelsdal.
