Firefighters in South Australia claim to make every effort to stop bushfires before the weather is predicted to worsen the next few days.

The air temperature is predicted to reach 34 degrees Celsius in Adelaide on Monday (05/1) and will rise to 38 degrees Celsius on Tuesday (06/01) and Wednesday (07/01), according to the Australian Bureau of Meteorology.

"We were really a race against time to make sure we could put out the fire in the area as much as possible before the hot weather and wind firmer come," said Minister of Great South Australia, Jay Weatherill, in a press conference.

"The aim is obviously to ensure that the fire does not spread in the middle of the deteriorating weather," he added.

He asked residents to prepare for the South Australian bushfires of this scale.

More than 30 homes destroyed feared in the hills near the city of Adelaide.

About 500 firefighters trying to tackle the fire, which first appeared on Friday (02/01).

Local officials say this is the worst fires in South Australia since the Ash Wednesday fires in 1983 with the death toll reached 75 people.
