Toyota will release a hydrogen fuel cell vehicles by 2015. Preview of this vehicle will only exist at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2014 in Las Vegas. Toyota brought two of these vehicles are fuel cells, concept and prototype FCV fuel cell powered that has been used for extensive testing and extreme road in North America in more than a year.
Bob Carter, senior vice president of automotive operations for Toyota Motor Sales (TMS), USA Inc, said at the opening of CES "fuel cell electric vehicles in the future will be much faster and in much larger amounts than anticipated."
Toyota said the FCV concept is a preview of sedan medium-sized fuel cell, while the new final version will appear in the next year. Having tested a prototype on the streets of North America for more than one year, Toyota said that consistently deliver this vehicle has a driving range of about 300 miles and it only takes three to five minutes to fill the fuel tank of hydrogen. The best part, these cars only emit water vapor into the atmosphere.
Toyota is currently partnered with the University of California Irvine's Advanced Power and Energy Program (Apep) to help mapping potential sites for new hydrogen fueling stations. California has approved more than $200 million in funding to build around 20 new stations in 2015, a total of 40 in 2016, and as many as 100 by 2024.
