Minister of Planning / Head of Bappenas Bappenas Indonesia Andrinof Chaniago brags calls will be free areas or slums in the next five years. Central to local government will be involved and cooperate in this slum eradication program.
Until now there are nine cities that fell into the category of pilot handling slums. Selection of the pilot cities because it fulfills the requirements.

The following nine pilot cities slum designated handler government:
1. Tangerang
2. Palembang
3. Semarang
4. Banjarmasin
5. City of Yogyakarta
6. Malang
7. City of Makassar
8. City of Surabaya
9. Pekalongan
